As
many of you know, Microsoft has decided to name WPF/E (Windows Presentation Foundation/Everywhere)
Microsoft Silverlight. It is a pretty cool name, but what is really cool is that it
is named after one of my friends David Silverlight. Microsoft has launched a new campaign
to reward community involvement. You can read about David's meeting with Bill and
how the name came about here.

Well that didnt fix it (I thought maybe it was a result of docking/undocking without

After digging around a bit (Googling) I found out I was not the only one to have this

. Close Word and Outlook
So I am at the keynote for the MVP Summit and Bill (Yea, we are on a first name basis)
just finished his "speech". We are now in the Q&A phase. It has been quite interesting.
There have been some great questions on where Microsoft is going in the future, what
he thinks is going to really take off but has not yet (tablet, voice recognition)
.

One of the best questions was from someone who had started on the Alistair. He read
the back panel that instructed users that needed help to Call Bill or Steve… What
a crack-up. He got Bill to sign it for him ;)

Well off to another session… more soon.

OK... So one of the blogs I read is from a very technical person who writes a very
non-technical blog. Most of the .Net world already knows who his is but if you have
been living on another planet, his name is Rory
Blyth.

Now his blog can get a little over the top for me sometimes but it is usually hysterically
funny. So I was going through some emails recently and I came across a couple
of his posts that I had emailed to someone. The cracked me up all over again.

So I thought I would share them:

The first one is about his experience with T-Mobile and their phone system. Maybe
you need to be a customer to find this funny but ..... well maybe not.

The second one is more of a cartoon then a blog post. If you have ever worked
in a corporate environment, you will definitely get a kick out of this. On the other
hand, if you say "I don't get it", then you are management material all the way!!

I am used to reading the reviews of my book on amazon.com but
it is always great to come across them other places. This time I came across This
Review on EggheadCafe.com.

I was really excited to read it for a couple of reasons.

1) It was a good review of my book ;)

2) It was from Peter A. Bromberg, Ph.D. I read his stuff on EggHeadCafe
ALL the time. They are fantastic articles on many of the hard to find techniques in
.Net. Every time I Google to find a solution to a particular problem, his
articles always come front and center. The really cool thing is that he is a real
hard core C# guy so the fact that he still liked my book was cool. Here is a quote
from his review:

"I give this one a hearty "Thumbs Up" -- not only does it cover the subject extensively,
it also promotes best-practices programming methodology. Pick up a copy of "Building
Websites with VB.NET and DotNetNuke 3.0", by Dan(iel) Egan"

Cool!!!!!

Happy Programming

Doc

After my nights pondering how I wanted to work DotNetDoc, I have decided that most
of the content of this site will be posted using this blog. I will post tips, tricks,
articles etc.. through my blog. For right now, I am just using an IFrame to show the <a href="http://www.dotnetdoc.com/ct.ashx?id=bc762ec8-583f-4e6c-92c9-f351c3c36dca&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.dasblog.net" ?>dasBlog from <a href="http://www.dotnetdoc.com/ct.ashx?id=bc762ec8-583f-4e6c-92c9-f351c3c36dca&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.dotnetdoc.com" ?>http://www.dotnetdoc.com but
will keep an eye on Sperio.net to see when he has the DNN module for <a href="http://www.dotnetdoc.com/ct.ashx?id=bc762ec8-583f-4e6c-92c9-f351c3c36dca&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.dasblog.net" ?>dasBlog completed.

I will start by blogging PDC 2005 stuff and move on from there. If you have any questions
let me know.
